This school year, the third- and fourth-graders enjoyed a special morning: Denis and Moses from Uganda visited as part of a Watoto tour.
After the CSK porch time, they first gave the children a glimpse into one of the Watoto Children’s Villages by showing a powerful video. Afterward, they shared very personal stories from their lives in English. Both lost their parents at a young age and found not only a new home at Watoto but also a family in faith. They gained access to education and medical care—and, above all, heard the good news of God’s love.
The children listened attentively, followed the story without difficulty, and asked many thoughtful questions. Denis and Moses were also visibly moved by the children’s keen interest and thoughtful questions. The fact that the students were able to engage in conversation with native English speakers—even on moving and challenging topics—was once again impressive proof of the CSK students’ bilingual abilities.
One thing became particularly clear: being able to learn is a great privilege, and God can transform even difficult life stories into hope. Denis and Moses shared how education has opened up new perspectives for them and how people have had a lasting impact on their lives through loving support. There was also room to talk about the sad and difficult moments in their stories. It was precisely through these moments that it became evident how God can bring healing, hope, and restoration.
Of course, a lively glimpse into Ugandan culture was a must: The guests learned a dance together with the children—definitely a joyful highlight that the children will remember for a long time to come.
At the end of the event, the children had the opportunity to purchase hand-sewn animals to support Watoto’s work.
Thus, this special morning became not only a glimpse into another country but also a source of encouragement in faith: God can turn any life story around, and His love never ends.
